Youth/Teen Program Overview

What We Accomplish

IOR has two distinct programs for Youth and Teens. Programs provide a safe environment for the youth to explore the dynamics of the move and their unique role in the family’s relocation. Trainers aim to help youth and teens develop:

  • An increased understanding of their role in the move as an “Intercultural Explorer” (youth) or “Intercultural Pathfinder” (teen)
  • An increased understanding of culture and how it impacts the move to their new country
  • Practical information and tips on living in a new country
  • Strategies for dealing with change and with feelings associated with an international move

Program Customization

Youth / Teen programs incorporate aspects of the home and host cultures to allow participants to compare and contrast their current situation with their new host country. You can access all of the Youth Country Sections by logging into the Youth Portal on this site:

Username: youthexpat
Password: explorer
***This portal is currently under construction***

You can share this password with your participants so they can always have access to this country specific information.

IOR programs emphasize interaction and activities to enhance learning

Before your first program, the youth program manager will brief you on the activities that are in the manual as well as other activities that have proved to be very successful.

To learn more about using our program manuals, please review the “Using Electronic Materials” section on the Intercultural Program Preparation page.
