Assessment Tools

IOR gives your company a competitive advantage in recommending and administrating intercultural assessment tools for your global talent. We provide a broad selection of assessment tools specifically chosen to fit our clients’ needs. We use tools based upon their utility, ease of use, reliability and statistical validity and can be incorporated in our Cultural Training and Global Talent Development programs.

We guide you through the process and offer unbiased advice on which assessment tool may be appropriate for your specific global talent needs and budget. Our highly-qualified team continuously surveys the market and provides consultation about new trends and developments in the assessment field.  IOR oversees the administration and interpretation of the assessment tools, and our trainers are certified in multiple tools.

We offer tools for the selection process that are designed to assist in selecting employees for international assignments or for work in multicultural groups.  In addition, we offer assessments for the development process which provide a focal point for building the knowledge and skills needed by individuals and teams who are working internationally or in a multicultural work environment.

Tools for the Selection Process

Designed to assist in selecting employees for international assignments or for work in multicultural groups, these tools measure:

  • Adaptability – adaptability & readiness for international assignments
  • Intercultural Competence – attitude, knowledge, and skills for work in multicultural environments

Tools for the Development Process

Using tools as part of talent development provides a focal point for building the knowledge and skills needed by individuals and teams who are working internationally or in a multicultural work environment. Global assessment tools are used to set learning objectives and measure progress in a variety of learning situations including:

  • Intercultural Awareness – knowledge of cultural difference and its impact on work environments
  • Intercultural Coaching – in preparation for or during multicultural work assignments
  • Team Functions – check of team systems, including impact of multicultural membership
  • Work Style – awareness of personal style preferences and adaptation tendencies under stress

NOTE: None of these tools are proprietary to IOR Global Services.  IOR continually surveys the market of intercultural assessment instruments to identify the most well-designed and research-supported tools for clearly identified applications. We provide objective recommendations as to the most appropriate tools for our client’s needs and budget.  IOR oversees the administration and interpretation of the assessment tools, and our trainers are certified in multiple tools.

language training programs that engage and motivate your employees to take their communication skills to the next level.

Our experience in adult learning methodologies allows us to provide a dynamic language training experience for the business professional and accompanying partner. By incorporating the adult learning approaches, we prepare our students for the professional and personal challenges of the global environment. Our language students bring a wealth of experience and knowledge to the training room and are motivated by a problem-solving rather than knowledge-gathering approach to skills development. For this reason, the activities and agenda are structured to reflect the adult learning methods:

  • Concrete experience: putting experience into practice
  • Reflective observation: objectively analyze the outcome
  • Abstract conceptualization: review conceptual understanding
  • Active experimentation: experimenting to find solutions

Measurement is a critical component of IOR’s quality process and begins at the student’s very first lesson. During the meeting, the Language Instructor and student work together to complete a Performance Development Plan (PDP) in order to decide how to best utilize the student’s authorized hours. The PDP includes S.M.A.R.T. (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Results-oriented, Time-specific) goals as well as the estimated time needed to achieve the student’s goals. Based upon information captured in the PDP, the Language Trainer formulates a curriculum and learning path that appeals to the student’s learning style and achieves long- and short-term proficiency targets and professional goals. This serves as the foundation for  measuring student success.
