The Director of Intercultural Training is responsible for leading IOR’s Intercultural Training business which includes Relocation Training, Global Workforce Development and Coaching. The Director oversees IOR’s global trainer network; directs curriculum design and revision; oversees the selection and implementation of appropriate intercultural assessment tools; and collaborates with the Global Client Solutions team to generate new business.  S/he is also responsible for supporting IOR’s branding efforts through writing blogs and articles as well as delivering webinars, workshops and presentations.


This is a full-time position based in our Northbrook, IL office and reports to IOR’s Senior Director of Quality and Customer Experience. This position is open to individuals legally eligible to work in the United States.



  1. Implement strategy and oversee daily operations of Intercultural Training group
    • Work closely with CEO to develop and implement Intercultural Training group strategy; monitor progress of strategic plan, yearly financial targets and KPI’s
    • Manage the Intercultural Training team and lead regular department meetings
    • Work closely with the Senior Manager, Intercultural Training, to Distribute and manage the team’s workload
    • Collaborate with IOR’s Senior Director of Quality and Customer Experience to ensure continuous improvement and quality assurance for department
    • Maintain and update IOR Training curriculum to ensure it brings value to customers; investigate evolving technology options to enhance programs
    • Make recommendations to management with regard to new consulting / training technologies and trends
    • Oversee IOR’s acquisition and use of assessment instruments


  1. Collaborate with Global Client Solutions and Marketing teams to strengthen client relationships, increase volume and raise brand visibility
    • Participate in client meetings and provide solutions to client requests; create client and new business proposals
    • Represent IOR Intercultural Training to local, national and international organizations and conferences; deliver workshops, webinars and presentations
    • Stay up-to-date on market trends in both relocation and global workforce development / L&D
    • Support IOR branding and marketing efforts through developing and updating
      • Client communications, blogs and articles
      • Website and social media content
      • Marketing collateral


  1. Manage Intercultural Trainer Network
    • Oversee management of worldwide trainer network
    • Build community among the network through regular communications including newsletters, webinars, meetings and promotions
    • Work with Intercultural Program Managers and Administrator to source and recruit new trainers and subject matter experts for global locations
    • Conduct new trainer briefings and coaching


  1. Design and deliver global workforce development programs and coaching
    • Facilitate group business / L&D programs virtually and face to face
    • Deliver coaching sessions, assessment debriefs and written debriefs

    • Tech savvy; proficient with MS Office Suite and web delivery platforms


  • Education & experience
    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
    • Advanced degree or certification in field relevant to intercultural training (preferred)
    • International living and working experience
    • Corporate work experience or familiarity with corporate work environment
    • Experience with collaborative sales approach
    • Second language competence (preferred)
    • Certification in one or more intercultural assessment tools (preferred)



  • Supporting IOR’s Global Client Solutions team to continue the growth of IOR’s client-base and increase our share of business with current clients
  • Represent IOR at selected professional meetings and conferences
  • Writing pertinent to IOR’s mission and branding for appropriate publications, blogs and websites
  • Effective performance of the training department in the delivery of IOR’s training services worldwide
  • Meeting yearly strategic goals as determined by the department and management
  • High quality program delivery as measured by evaluations and client reviews (minimum 4.5 / 5.0 Customer Satisfaction; target 100% Customer and Client Recommend Rate)..
