Camel Racing

A spectator sport for most, camel races are held at tracks in Seeb, Salalah, in the Interior and the Batinah regions. Races are generally held on public holidays and during the annual National Day celebrations. Camels are carefully bred for racing and undergo intensive training in order to compete at national and international levels.

Sea Diving

With 1,700 km of coastline and clean, unpolluted waters, Oman is one of the best-kept secrets in the diving world.


One of the best places to surf in Oman is Masirah Island which can be reached by ferry from Sana on the mainland. The size of the surf depends on the time of the year, but 4-6 feet is normal.


There are regular regattas held in the waters of Oman.


There are many mountains and sea cliffs in Oman to tempt the rock-climber. The climbs range from easy to extremely difficult.


One of the most popular treks in Oman is the Jebel Shams Rim Walk. Jebel Shams, or the Mountain of the Sun, is the highest mountain in Oman, standing at 3,075 meters. The walk can be dangerous because of the rock rubble and the cliff walls.


Soccer is played on a professional and international level as well as by children.
