Venezuela: Values

Venezuelans tend to hold the following values dear:

  • Casual and relaxed and yet still formal in certain circumstances

  • Friendly

  • Happy

  • Speak loudly

  • All speak at the same time (monochronic)

  • Society has different social levels (hierarchical)

  • Often in big groups, interdependent (collectivist)

  • Often live near family and visit each other often (collectivist)

  • Touch often (lots of hugging and kissing on the cheek!)

  • Don’t seem to be in a rush (sometimes arrive late) (fluid sense of time)

Do you hold any of the values noted above?

Which values do you think might be the most similar to your other country? And the most different?
