Overview of IOR Global Services

IOR Global Services (“IOR”) is a leader in the rapidly growing market for global mobility and talent management solutions. For over 30 years, IOR has provided premier support services for global business travelers, employees and families on international assignments.  We partner with clients to help their employees work more effectively across cultures and advance their global talent. 

IOR’s Mobility Services include Intercultural Training and Development, Language Solutions and Destination Services.  Our Global Performance Consulting business works with business leaders and management teams to build intercultural competence through global talent management, leadership development and mergers & acquisitions cultural integration services.  IOR delivers its services in over 70 countries through a network of more than 2,700 independent consultants. 

The Summer Intern will be based at our headquarters in Northbrook, IL.  Starting and ending dates will be flexible. 

Summer Intern Job Description

During the two month internship, the Summer Intern will gain exposure to all aspects of IOR’s business through a rotation in which he/she will work with the Intercultural Training and Development, Language Solutions and Destination Services groups.  He/she will also assist the Sales and Marketing team on projects aimed at expanding our reach to a broader market via social media and direct client marketing.  Finally, the Summer Intern will work with Senior Management on an analysis of our competition, competitive positioning and market trends across all businesses.  

The Summer Intern will have the opportunity to work directly with IOR’s Heads of the Intercultural Training and Development, Language Solutions and Destination Services groups and Senior Management.  He or she will also have an assigned mentor for the summer that will monitor workload and development.  There will be a brief training and overview of all the businesses the first week of the internship. 

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Completed Junior year of college
  • International Business, International Studies, or Humanities/Language major (preferred)  
  • Intellectual curiosity; interest in foreign cultures
  • Proficient in a second language (or multiple) (preferred)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfortable using technology; Competent using Windows XP;  High level of proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Organized and detail oriented
  • Positive attitude, enthusiasm and can-do attitude
  • Team player, but also possessing the ability to work independently at times
  • International experience living/studying abroad (preferred)
