What is global diversity?

The term global diversity implies a heterogeneous workforce - as does the term diversity - but differs from the U.S. usage in two ways.  First, a globally diverse workforce generally includes a variety of nationalities, and communication is conducted in a common language (usually English), which may be a second language for many or even a majority of local employees.  Secondly, issues of political exclusion are absent and the workforce, especially at management level, consists of political peers who may resist adaptation to the dominant (and often foreign) corporate culture.  Effective management of a globally diverse workforce requires a different approach from managing a diverse U.S. workforce.
