 January 1                            New Year’s Day  

January 26                           Australia Day commemorates the landing and first                                                            settlement of the country by Governor Philip at Sydney in 1788  

Good Friday, Easter Sunday, and Easter Monday  

April 25                               Anzac Day honors the combined Australian and New             Zealand army corps on the date of a disastrous defeat                                        they suffered in World War I in Turkey. Anzac Day                             also commemorates Australian World War I veterans.  

May 24                               Commonwealth Day  

December 25                     Christmas Day  

December 26                       Boxing Day  

Labor Day                           A holiday that is celebrated on a different date in each                 state.

 

The Queen’s Birthday   HM’s birthday is celebrated in June, except in Western Australia, where it is celebrated in November.
