  • The current flag of Brazil was officially adopted on November 15, 1889.
  • The green symbolizes Brazil's lush fields and forests.
  • The large yellow diamond symbolizes Brazil's wealth in gold.
  • In the center of the diamond floats a blue celestial globe.
  • The globe contains 27 five-­â€pointed white stars (one for each state and the Federal District) arranged in the same pattern as the night sky over Brazil.
  • The globe has a white equatorial band that crosses its width with the motto ordem e progresso which means order and progress.
