Pakistan: Dress                                                          

 

 

  • The traditional clothing of Pakistan reflects the cultures of the different regions: Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan, Pashtun and Kashmir. Local clothing varies based on weather, style and values.

 

  • However, the shalwar kameez is the national dress of Pakistan and is worn in all regions. Shalwar refers to loose trousers and kameez refers to shirts.

 

  • Since 1982, all officials working in the secretariat are required to wear the national dress.

 

  • Colorful silk, chiffon, cotton and pashmina are common clothing materials.
