"Working With..." Programs

Knowledge of the country and culture in which you will be doing business, either as an expat or business traveler, is essential for success. IOR’s “Working With...” programs are conducted with cultural business consultants who have extensive corporate experience. After a brief overview of the way history and geography have impacted today’s business climate, the session explores key value differences between the host culture and home culture. In the full-day version of the program, the use of a cultural assessment tool enables participants to compare their own values and work style preferences to those of the target culture. 

With this understanding, participants can focus more deeply on the ways that culture influences the performance of business functions such as: negotiation, team-building, superior-subordinate relationships, decision-making, leadership styles, and meeting styles.  Participants begin to build strategies for effectively managing and bridging the differences in work cultures.

Pre-program questionnaires help the trainer design a program that targets specific business needs. Sessions are delivered face-to-face or virtually using an interactive web platform. They can also be recorded and delivered as a web-cast for ongoing access.
